Sara Westwood

Sara Westwood is a highly experienced Clinical Negligence Solicitor and Partner at Hatch Brenner Solicitors, with over 15 years’ specialist experience acting exclusively for claimants. She joined the Partnership in October 2020, having previously been a Director at Morgan Jones Pett in Norwich.

Sara is widely recognised for her expertise in complex, high-risk clinical negligence claims, particularly those involving vulnerable clients, children, and bereaved families. She is known for her calm, strategic approach to difficult litigation, meticulous case preparation, and ability to manage emotionally and evidentially complex claims where the issues often outweigh the financial value.

She carries a substantial and varied caseload, acting in multi-million-pound catastrophic injury claims alongside lower-value but highly sensitive matters. Her work frequently involves disputed liability and causation, extensive expert evidence, and cases requiring careful handling of client care throughout lengthy proceedings.

A recent highlight includes securing a £2.5 million settlement shortly before trial in a birth injury claim involving negligent delay in delivery and misinterpretation of CTG monitoring, resulting in severe hypoxic brain injury and cerebral palsy affecting all four limbs and speech.

Sara is a member of AvMA, the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Panel, and a Senior Litigator with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). She also contributes to professional development and legal education, including guest lectures to third-year law students at the University of East Anglia on clinical negligence litigation, evidential challenges, and client care.
