Managing Partner

Colin Cook

Colin Cook is the Managing Partner at Hatch Brenner Solicitors and an experienced Personal Injury Solicitor based in Norwich. He represents clients across Norfolk and the wider region in a broad range of complex and high-value injury claims, specialising in serious brain injury, fatal accident, and medical negligence cases. Colin is known for his compassionate approach and his commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for his clients and their families.

With over 25 years of experience in personal injury law, Colin studied at Liverpool John Moores University and qualified in practice in Lancashire. He previously worked as a Partner at a London law firm before joining Hatch Brenner Solicitors in 2005, where he became Managing Partner in 2022.

Colin is dedicated to promoting justice and improving support for people affected by serious injury. He is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), the Norfolk & Norwich Medico-Legal Society, the Eastern Region Brain Injury Forum, the Norfolk and Waveney Brain Injury Network, and the Norfolk Area Brain Injury Forum.

Colin has considerable experience handling personal injury cases ranging from minor road traffic accidents to catastrophic claims involving traumatic brain injury, an area in which he has a particular interest. His work includes representing the Estate of a man fatally injured in a high-profile chemical explosion, securing damages under the Fatal Accidents Act for the widow and surviving children, and acting throughout a seven-day jury inquest. As part of this matter, Colin also successfully pursued a secondary victim claim on behalf of the deceased’s son.

He has further acted for a secondary victim and rescuer following a large-scale industrial accident at Yarmouth Harbour, where the psychological impact of the incident resulted in a career change. Colin has secured over £500,000 in damages for a client who sustained a traumatic brain injury in a workplace accident, and achieved a £350,000 settlement for a previously fit and healthy 65-year-old roofer who suffered a traumatic brain injury at work. He has also successfully concluded a settlement for a road traffic accident client who sustained both brain and spinal injuries.

Over his career, Colin has helped hundreds of clients recover compensation ranging from several thousand pounds to settlements exceeding one million pounds. His clients benefit from access to leading specialist rehabilitation services and consistently receive the highest standards of personal, face-to-face client care.

Colin is recognised in the Chambers UK Guide 2026 as a Band 2 lawyer for Personal Injury. He is also highlighted in the Legal 500 2025, where Hatch Brenner LLP is praised for its strength in claimant-side clinical negligence and personal injury work, and Colin is described as “a key name to note for personal injury matters” due to his extensive experience in complex and high-value claims.
